Where: The NOAA EPP 7th Biennial Education and Science Forum will occur on the beautiful campus of UMES, an 1890 Land Grant Institution located in Princess Anne, MD, in the heart of the Delmarva Peninsula, surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Theme: Developing a Premier Future STEM Workforce to Support Environmental Sustainability.
Purpose: 7th Biennial Forum provides an opportunity to showcase results of collaborative research and education projects between scientists and students at NOAA EPP-funded academic institutions and NOAA scientists, to discuss new engagement opportunities, and to promote career opportunities for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) graduates with academic, government, and public/private sectors. Program Agenda Overview: NOAA EPP 7th Biennial Forum will kick off on Sunday, October 26 with a student session and then an evening networking event. Monday the 7th Biennial Forum will open with plenary sessions featuring speakers from the United States Congress and NOAA Administration. Monday through Wednesday, students and NOAA EPP alumni will give presentations in four technical sessions organized around the four NOAA long-term goals: Climate Adaptation and Mitigation, Weather Ready Nation, Healthy Oceans, and Resilient Coastal Communities and Economies. Lunch speakers will include special guest speakers selected for their support of STEM education. Student-oriented activities will focus on strategies for enhancing student professional development, and will provide opportunities for them to network with other students, graduates of EPP programs, NOAA Scientists, scientists at the NOAA Cooperative Science Centers, and potential employers.
